The most important role a teacher plays in my opinion is learning
each student as an individual, understanding their needs, learning about each
one personally, and the ways each student learns best to adapt and incorporate this
into teaching for the whole class.
While observing the teacher,
I have noticed that she has learned important knowledge about each student. Because
of this she knows what will work best and also what will not work for each
child. She is also able to anticipate what might occur from the students
because she has spent the time to understand them. By understanding how each
student learns best the teacher gives a lesson and goes over the material in many
ways to reach each type of learning.
While the teacher is doing
all of these things she is filling many roles. She is an educator, friend,
mentor, mediator, and helper along with many more. In teaching it is important
to play many roles for the students in their learning and development to be
able to arrive with the tools when entering into higher education or the
workforce.
